Open the Video Widget app, pick a GIF powered by GIPHY or select a video or Live Photo, choose your widget size, and follow the setup guide to add it to your Home Screen.
Does the video play automatically?
Yes. Videos loop automatically and seamlessly whenever your Home Screen is visible.
Are my videos uploaded anywhere?
No. All videos and photos stay on your device. No media is ever uploaded or shared externally.
Why is my widget blank or not showing the video?
A blank widget means your iPhone hasn't allocated enough resources for video playback yet—this is normal system behavior. Try waiting a few minutes for the system to free up memory. If the issue persists, open the app and add your video again with a shorter loop length to reduce resource usage.
Can I customize the video loop length?
Yes. You can select loop lengths of 1, 2, 3, or 4 seconds. Shorter loops use fewer resources and are ideal for smoother performance, especially on older devices.
Can I select which part of my video to loop?
Yes! After choosing your loop length and widget size, use pinch-to-zoom gestures to frame the exact portion of your video. This lets you perfectly compose your widget for the selected size.
Will this drain my battery?
No. Video Widget is optimized for efficiency and automatically pauses playback when your screen is off or the Home Screen isn't visible.
Can I use longer videos?
We're working on support for loops up to 10 seconds. We're refining the playback quality before releasing this feature.
Can I add multiple video widgets?
Yes. You can add multiple widgets with different GIFs, videos, or Live Photos. Note that many active widgets may affect performance on older devices.
Can I use Live Photos as widgets?
Yes. Live Photos are fully supported and loop seamlessly, just like videos.
Which video formats are supported?
Any format supported by your iPhone's Photos app works seamlessly, including .MOV and .MP4.
Can I use this on iPad?
Yes. Video Widget works on both iPhone and iPad.
Do I need an internet connection?
Browsing and searching GIFs powered by GIPHY requires an internet connection. Once any widget—GIF, video, or Live Photo—is set up, it loops completely offline.
What widget sizes are available?
iPhone supports small, medium, and large widget sizes. iPad offers an additional extra large widget size for even more screen presence.
How do I add a Live Photo as a widget?
Open Video Widget, select a Live Photo from your Photos library, choose your preferred widget size, and follow the setup guide. The Live Photo will loop automatically just like a video.
